Danone Specialized Nutrition (SN) Indonesia in collaboration with Berkeley Energy Commercial Industrial Solution (BECIS) to build and operate a biomass-fueled boiler (Boiler Biomass) made from rice husk in the PT Sarihusada Generasi Mahardhika (SGM) factory area in Prambanan, Central Java ( Central Java).SGM is part of Danone SN Indonesia.Construction of a Biomass Boiler to reduce the carbon footprint of production activities at the Prambanan factory by up to 32%.This is done as the company's commitment to mitigate climate change by reducing the carbon footprint through the provision of nutritious products for mothers, children and families that are produced in an environmentally friendly manner. The construction of this boiler was appreciated by the Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov).Ganjar Pranowo, Governor of Central Java, in his speech delivered by Sumarno, Regional Secretary of the Central Java Provincial Government, said that the SGM initiative was appreciated for optimizing the use of rice husks as fuel for biomass boilers. The husk ash produced from the production of this Biomass Boiler can also be further utilized by farmers as organic agricultural fertilizer. This is a good effort to practice sustainable and implement the circular economy concept. The Central Java Provincial Government hopes that this initiative will help develop agricultural products and inspire other business entities in Indonesia. On this agreement, Vice President General Secretary of Danone Indonesia Vera Galuh Sugijanto said, climate change is a challenge that is increasingly emerging and we are feeling its effects very much at this time.As a company that carries the One Planet One Health Vision, Danone believes that the health of the earth and human health are interrelated, and addressing the impacts of climate change is part of the company's commitment to the realization of a healthier earth and society. In collaboration with BECIS, a renewable energy service provider in Asia, Danone SN Indonesia is building a Biomass Boiler facility that will use 10,500 tons of rice husk/year."And capable of producing energy up to 6 tons of steam per hour, making it the first industrial biomass boiler fueled by rice husks in Central Java," said Vera in a press release in Klaten, Central Java (15/6/2022).As a provider of nutritional products, Danone is committed to mitigating climate change with the ambition of using 100% renewable electrical energy by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. “We also ensure that in addition to using environmentally friendly technology and raw materials sourced from renewable energy, Boiler facilities This biomass also contributes to creating circularity of agricultural products and increasing agricultural productivity,” said Vera.Rice husk which is agricultural waste is obtained from various areas in Central Java, including from agricultural land around the Biomass Boiler facility, which is one of the largest contributors to rice production nationally. This Biomass Boiler can reduce carbon emissions by 8,300 Tons of CO2 or the equivalent of carbon emissions absorbed through planting 120,000 trees, thereby reducing the carbon footprint resulting from the production process at the Prambanan factory by up to 32%.You must be logged in to post a comment.Get the most out of SWA by signing in to your accountOr select your favorite social network to get started
